Salary

from 3 500 EUR/month

This is a legal monthly minimum required to be stated by the Slovak law. Offered salary varies based on relevant experience and skills. Plus: Annual Salary Bonus based on individual & company performance.

Your role

The Senior Data Engineer will design, develop and maintain data sourcing, ingestion, and transformation solutions that will be used in reporting & analytics, data science, and other consuming applications, as well as collaboration on building and maintenance of a data and analytics platform.  

You will

  • Design and lead development of data ingestion and transformation pipelines in Databricks
  • Design, develop and maintain automation pipelines for CI/CD, infrastructure as code, observability and alerting, and all other aspects of a Databricks platform
  • Initiate documentation, knowledge-sharing, and creating of operating procedures
  • Mentor junior developers and help them achieve more advanced skills

Required Skills

Must-Haves:

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science or equivalent experience  
  • 5+ years of experience in the design and development of data pipelines, data marts, and data warehouses
  • 1+ years of experience writing Databricks spark jobs and/or DLT pipelines 
  • Excellent understanding of data warehousing concepts and dimensional data modeling 
  • Excellent Python skills with experience with other languages 
  • Knowledge of AWS or anther cloud provider’s offered capabilities  
  • Excellent written and oral communications skills in English (B2+), with the ability to articulate complex processes to individuals of varying technical abilities 
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving ability with strong attentions to detail and accuracy 

Nice-to-Haves:

  • Experience with Astronomer/Airflow
  • Experience in Microsoft SQL Server and SSIS
  • Hands-on experience with troubleshooting performance issues and fine-tuning queries 
  • Self-starter with the ability to work independently, take initiative, and learn new skills 
  • Firm knowledge of data engineering tools including version control system using Git, Bitbucket, SVN, or Team Foundation

Junior Medior Senior Lead

Junior

With a basic knowledge of OOP, scripting language, relational databases and really good understanding of programming logic, your goal is mainly to add new features into existing projects and work on support tickets in order to fix possible issues.

Medior

With an in-depth knowledge of OOP and scripting language and good understanding of relational and NoSQL databases, you are more independent and able to work in new small projects. At this time, you will also be helping to review the code base of your team.

Senior

With an expert knowledge of OOP and scripting languages and a solid knowledge in code time/space complexity, your goal is to improve our code base and guide the rest of the team to make sure they are all following the best patterns. You definitely know how and when to use relational databases, NoSQL, columnar and memory databases. You are bringing new ideas to the table and working together with the leads to execute large-scale designed projects.

Lead

As well as the relevant technical background required for a Senior, you are also able to manage teams and connect technical needs with business related problems/needs. As a lead you work together with the Principal to delegate and deliver simple solutions for complex problems with high standards. Responsible for the architecture of our systems, your strong knowledge will guide the team to create the best solutions.

Phone Screen

A brief call with our HR team to assess your suitability for the company and the applied role.

Step 3:
Home assignment

Some roles require a home assignment, if that is the case for the role you are applying for, you will be either notified during the phone screen or sent all the necessary information via mail.

Step 4:
Interview

HR Interview (HR interview to assess role expectations and cultural fit.) Technical Interview (Interview with our Senior Engineers or Tech Leads discussing your participation in previous projects, experience with technologies). Might include live coding session where necessary.

Step 5:
Executive Interview

The last part of the interview process is a discussion with one of our Vice Presidents.

Duration and necessity of individual rounds may vary depending on the type and requirements of the position.
